Client: Jack Della Maddalena
Discipline: Professional MMA / UFC
Location: Perth, WA
Project type: Home garage gym fit-out
Scope: Home gym fit-out with squat rack, storage, rubber flooring, and expandable outdoor astroturf platform
The Brief
Jack Della Maddalena reached out to Kinta after his existing equipment — previously kept at his dad’s place – needed replacing. He wanted a professional-grade setup in his own garage that he could train in around family life, without losing hours to gym commutes.
The constraint: the garage still needed to function as a garage. Jack wanted the fit-out on one side only, leaving the other side free for car parking. Everything had to fit cleanly without compromising the rest of the space.
In Jack’s words:
“It saves the time going to the gyms, warming up, training, then cooling down, heading home. It can be a multiple hour thing. Now it’s pretty much an hour I can get in, warm up, smash out a good workout, and be home. Don’t take too much time away from the kids.”
The Design
Kinta designed a half-garage layout that maximised training capability without taking over the space:
- Rubber gym flooring running from the roller door to the back wall, locked to the bare concrete edge with a synthetic double-sided adhesive so it sat flush without needing wall-to-wall coverage
- Storage zone along the back wall for kettlebells, dumbbells, slam balls, and accessories
- Squat rack and cable station along the left wall for strength, conditioning, and accessory work from a single piece of equipment
- Expandable astroturf jigsaw platform that runs out down the driveway when needed — turning the garage into an outdoor training space for plyometric work, sled pushes, and sun sessions, then packing back into a 1m x 1m square when not in use

What Was Installed
K75 Loaded Half Power Rack Kinta’s most popular squat rack, built from 75mm x 75mm 11-gauge steel (3mm thick) with an integrated cable system featuring twin 95kg weight stacks. Adjustable swivel cables let Jack change angles for accessory and conditioning work without leaving the rack. The 180kg of plate-stack weight in the centre of the rack means it stays stable under load without needing to be bolted to the floor.
K75 Multi-Tier Storage Rack 180cm storage platforms for both flat storage and weight plates — kettlebells, dumbbells, slam balls and plates all organised in one footprint.
15mm Rubber Gym Flooring The same flooring spec Kinta puts in most commercial gyms — built to take repeated dropped barbells without compression.
Astroturf Jigsaw Tiles Modular outdoor turf that extends training space out the driveway for sled work and plyometrics. Packs flat when not needed.
Why It Works for a Pro Fighter
The build solves three problems specific to a professional combat athlete:
Time. Travel to and from a commercial gym eats into recovery and family time — both critical for a fighter in camp. The garage setup compresses a multi-hour session into an hour from start to finish.
Versatility. The K75 with integrated cables means Jack can do strength work, accessory work, and conditioning from one piece of equipment. The expandable astroturf adds plyometric and sled work on demand.
Durability. The 11-gauge steel construction handles dropped weights without flinching. As Jack asked during install: “Are they quite heavy duty to drop weights on?” Joe’s answer: “Easy. You could drop anything on there and it’ll be fine.”
Jack’s Verdict
“I’m stoked, Honestly, so stoked. It looks awesome. So versatile. I can’t wait. I’m going to get a lot of hard work done in here.”
