MGM Workforce Camp Gym, Port Hedland – Case Study

Published on February 19, 2026

The Project

KINTA was brought in to design, equip and install a commercial-grade gym for MGM’s 300-person workforce camp in Port Hedland.

The camp supports MGM’s crew working in one of Australia’s toughest operational environments. They needed a gym that could handle the beating — a space built for recovery, performance and long-term health.

Projx engaged KINTA to deliver an end-to-end solution covering equipment selection, layout design, installation and ongoing maintenance.

What They Needed

The brief was clear. The gym had to:

  • Handle constant, high-volume daily use
  • Cater to all training styles and experience levels
  • Stand up to the demands of a remote workforce environment
  • Stay operational with minimal downtime
  • Be simple to service and maintain long-term

This wasn’t about building something flashy. It was about building something that works — day in, day out.

What KINTA Delivered

We worked with Projx and MGM to design a fit-for-purpose solution from the ground up:

  • Equipment consultation and selection built for workforce demands
  • Layout planning to maximise flow, safety and space
  • Commercial-grade equipment chosen for durability and ease of maintenance
  • Full installation coordination for a remote site
  • Ongoing servicing and preventative maintenance post-handover

Every piece of equipment was selected with serviceability and lifespan front of mind — critical when you’re operating in a remote location.

Gym Design & Equipment

The gym was zoned to support:

  • Strength training and free weights
  • Functional and general conditioning
  • Individual sessions and informal group training

We designed the layout to reduce congestion, manage noise and keep training safe during peak periods. Commercial rubber flooring was installed throughout for equipment protection, safety and noise reduction.

Installation & Remote Logistics

Operating in remote Port Hedland meant logistics had to be tight. We checked every piece of equipment before dispatch and coordinated delivery and installation to align with the build programme.

The gym was installed to commercial standards and handed over ready to go.

Ongoing Support

Post-installation, KINTA continues to provide servicing and preventative maintenance for the equipment — keeping it reliable, safe and operational over the life of the facility.

This ongoing support is critical for workforce camps where access to technicians and parts can be limited.

The Result

The completed gym delivers:

  • A robust, functional training facility for a 300-person workforce
  • Equipment built to handle high daily usage
  • A safe, efficient layout that supports real training
  • Reduced downtime through proactive maintenance

The facility now plays a key role in supporting MGM’s workforce wellbeing while meeting the operational demands of a remote site.
