Leg machines load your quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves through a fixed path, so you can train each one hard without the balance and setup demands of free weights. Kinta's own machine lines cover every major lower-body movement, from plate-loaded HQ units for home and light-commercial gyms to pin-loaded SAS machines rated for commercial floors.

A barbell squat trains your whole body to move a load, which is exactly why it is limited for building one muscle: your lower back, grip or balance often give out before your quads do. Leg machines remove that bottleneck. They fix the path so the target muscle is the thing that fails, let you isolate hamstrings or quads directly, and load the legs heavily without a bar on your spine. That last point matters for anyone managing a back that will not tolerate loaded squats, and for high-volume training where whole-body fatigue is the limiter. Machines do not replace squats and deadlifts for total-body strength; they let you add targeted leg work around them. If you are planning a full lower-body floor rather than a single machine, that is the kind of build our commercial gym fitout team handles across WA & Australia
The legs come down to a few jobs, and different machines own each one. This is the quickest way to work out what belongs in your setup.
Quads and glutes, the pressing and squatting machines. A leg press machine and a hack squat load the quads and glutes through a deep knee bend with your back supported, no balance required. A pendulum or seated hack squat does the same job in a more upright, glute-biased path. For the full range of pressing and hack-squat options, see our leg press machines
Quads, isolated: the leg extension. Knee extension on its own is the cleanest way to add quad volume or bring up a lagging quad without loading the rest of the body. The dedicated and combo units sit on our leg extension machines page
Hamstrings: the leg curl. Curls, whether lying, seated or standing, are the main direct hamstring movement, and most leg programs are short on them. The range is on our leg curl machines page.
Glutes and hips. Hip thrust and belt-squat work sits alongside leg training rather than inside it, so we keep those on the glute machines page.
Calves. A seated calf raise loads the calves through their full range under heavy weight, the most direct way to train a muscle group that stays stubborn for most people.
Some machines combine two jobs, a leg press that switches to a hack squat, or a leg curl that switches to a leg extension. They save floor space, and the tradeoff is that you cannot train both stations at once.
Judge any brand's leg machine on four things.
Adjustability. Backrest, seat and foot-plate positions that suit your limb length, so the machine trains the muscle through a full range instead of fighting your proportions. A fixed machine fits one body.
Frame and rating. Leg machines take real force through a full drive. Semi-commercial steel is enough for a home gym; a high-traffic floor needs a commercial frame. Ask what it is rated for, not whether it is "heavy-duty".
Loading system. Plate-loaded machines take the Olympic plates you already own and cost less; pin-loaded stacks change weight faster and suit high-traffic use. Neither is better, they suit different setups.
Footprint. Leg machines are among the largest in any gym, so measure the room first. Packing dimensions are for delivery access, not the floor space a machine needs assembled.
The machine ranges here are our own lines. For a spare room, the plate-loaded HQ range is usually the answer; for a facility with constant traffic, the pin-loaded SAS range earns its place, and the team will match the frame, including the newer Bravo Series units, to how hard and how often the machine will be used before you commit. We are a Defence Standing Offer Panel supplier, and our machines sit in home gyms, studios, mining sites and Defence bases around the country. Machines across the SAS, HQ and Bravo ranges are supported by ISO 20957 documentation. Veteran-owned and Perth-based, we back every machine with warranty, with frame cover running up to ten years on machines across the range; each product page lists its terms.
The Malaga showroom has leg machines set up to test, though the range on the floor moves with stock, so call ahead to check what is in: Unit 4, 516 Alexander Drive, Malaga WA 6090, 0481 280 400. We ship Australia-wide, install on site, and spread the cost through finance and buy-now-pay-later. Discounts apply for Defence, emergency services, trainers and gym owners.
To go wider, the strength machines hub covers the back, chest and pressing machines. Loading any leg machine means plates, so see weight plates, and put rubber flooring underneath to protect your slab and quieten plate changes.
Fewer than the catalogue suggests. For most home setups, one pressing machine (a leg press or hack squat) plus a leg curl covers quads, glutes and hamstrings, and a calf raise if calves are a priority. Add a leg extension only if you want direct quad isolation. A commercial floor needs the full spread so members are not queuing on one station.
For whole-body strength, no, and they are not meant to be. Squats and deadlifts build the pattern; machines add targeted volume, isolate a muscle a barbell only trains indirectly, and let you keep training legs when your back needs a break from the bar. Most good programs use both.
Plate-loaded (our HQ line) uses the Olympic plates you already own, costs less and suits home and light-commercial gyms. Pin-loaded (our SAS line) changes weight in a second and handles constant traffic, which is why it belongs on commercial floors. Match it to how often the machine will be used.
Some are built for it: a leg press and a belt squat load the legs without a bar on your spine, which is why they suit lifters managing back problems. For knees, machines let you control range and load precisely. None of that is medical advice, so clear any existing injury with a health professional before loading it.
