Commercial Gym Equipment Standards: KINTA SAS, HQ & Bravo Series and ISO 20957

In short: KINTA Fitness supplies commercial-grade strength equipment across three ranges, the SAS Series (premium pin-loaded), the HQ Series (plate-loaded), and the Bravo Series (value pin-loaded). Selected machines in each range are supported by ISO 20957 documentation, the international standard for stationary training equipment, with TÜV Rheinland Certificate of Conformity references. The verified register of covered machines, their SKUs and certificate numbers is further down this page.

KINTA is a veteran-owned Australian supplier and an approved Department of Defence Standing Offer Panel supplier. For tender, government, Defence, mining or school procurement, request the relevant certificate and test report for the specific machines being quoted via the contact page.

This page is for facility owners, gym builders, procurement and tender teams who need to know not just what to buy, but whether it is documented to a recognised safety standard. If you want help designing and installing a complete fit-out, see commercial gym fit-outs; to browse and buy, see commercial gym equipment.

What is ISO 20957?

ISO 20957 is the international standard for stationary training equipment. It sets safety requirements and test methods for machines used in controlled training environments, commercial gyms, schools, hotels, sporting clubs, rehabilitation spaces and professional facilities. For commercial strength equipment it covers areas such as stability, load resistance, safety clearances, adjustment mechanisms, product marking, user instructions, and care and maintenance information.

Why it matters for a buyer: commercial equipment is used repeatedly by many different people of different abilities. A machine that looks heavy-duty is not the same as a machine supported by recognised safety and testing documentation. For a procurement officer or tender assessor, that documentation is the difference between a claim and a verifiable fact.

How to choose commercial gym equipment for your facility

The right mix depends on the facility type, who uses it, the available space and the training outcomes you want. Most commercial fit-outs combine selectorised machines (simple and fast for general members), plate-loaded machines (for strength-focused users), free weights, benches, racks, cable machines, cardio, rubber gym flooring, storage and clearly defined training zones. The harder question is matching the grade of equipment to the users; and that is where the difference between facility types actually lives.

Commercial & 24/7 gyms

High-traffic floors with mixed-ability members need fast, intuitive, durable machines and clear traffic flow for peak times. Selectorised pin-loaded machines (SAS or Bravo) let members change resistance in seconds without handling plates, while a dedicated plate-loaded strength zone (HQ) serves your serious lifters. Spacing, serviceable components and commercial flooring matter as much as the machines themselves.

Mine site & remote workforce gyms

Remote sites add a problem most suppliers ignore: logistics and serviceability. Equipment has to survive daily use by a broad workforce, be simple enough for beginners, and be supported by a supplier who can actually deliver to, install at, and service a remote location. Selectorised SAS machines suit general workforce training; HQ plate-loaded suits heavier strength work. KINTA supports remote projects end to end selection, delivery, installation and ongoing equipment servicing.

Corporate & wellness gyms

Used by office staff with a wide range of fitness levels, corporate gyms reward equipment that is low-risk, space-efficient and obvious to operate. Selectorised strength machines, dumbbells, adjustable benches, cable machines, cardio and a small functional area cover most needs. The SAS Series suits a premium corporate fit-out; the Bravo Series delivers the same selectorised simplicity at a more accessible price.

Schools, universities & sporting clubs

Duty of care is the priority: equipment that is documented, robust and appropriate for supervised and semi-supervised use. ISO 20957 documentation is particularly relevant here, and is often a procurement requirement. Selectorised ranges suit general PE and student use; sporting clubs and athletic programs often add HQ plate-loaded machines for performance work. KINTA already equips schools, universities and clubs — see case studies.

Defence & high-performance facilities

Defence and elite performance environments need heavy-duty, documented equipment built for relentless use. As a Defence Standing Offer Panel supplier with a veteran ownership background, KINTA supplies both selectorised (SAS) and plate-loaded (HQ) ranges into these facilities, with documentation available for procurement.

The three KINTA commercial ranges

KINTA SAS Series — premium selectorised (pin-loaded)

SAS stands for Special Air Service — reflecting KINTA’s military-inspired, veteran-owned foundation. The SAS Series is the premium selectorised, pin-loaded range: users change resistance with a pin instead of handling Olympic plates, which makes it fast, simple and ideal for busy, mixed-ability floors. Pneumatic seat adjustment features on applicable machines. Best for 24/7 and commercial gyms, schools, hotels, corporate gyms, Defence and mine-site facilities, and any high-turnover space where ease of use and member experience matter.

SAS-Leg-Curl-Machine

KINTA HQ Series — plate-loaded strength

HQ stands for Head Quarters — the strength-focused command centre of the range. HQ machines load with Olympic plates for a direct, heavy-duty strength-training feel, and are preferred by strength athletes, bodybuilders, sporting clubs and serious strength zones. Best for strength and bodybuilding gyms, sporting clubs, athletic performance centres, Defence and mine-site strength areas, and commercial strength zones. The HQ Pendulum Squat and HQ Hack Squat are popular anchors for a plate-loaded leg zone.

HQ-Belt-Squat-Machine

KINTA Bravo Series — value selectorised

The Bravo Series sits one grade below the SAS Series: reliable, commercial selectorised (pin-loaded) machines at a more accessible price point. The key difference from SAS is the absence of pneumatic seat adjustment, which keeps it simpler and more cost-effective while retaining commercial-grade function. Best for schools and universities, PT studios, hotels and corporate wellness facilities, value-focused commercial fit-outs and mixed-use spaces.

Many facilities use more than one range — for example SAS on the main selectorised floor, HQ in a dedicated strength zone, and Bravo to extend coverage on a budget. KINTA’s free 3D gym design service can map the right combination to your floor plan.

Yes. Selected KINTA SAS Series machines are supported by ISO 20957 documentation for stationary training equipment, with TÜV Rheinland Certificate of Conformity references listed in the register above. The SAS Series is KINTA’s premium selectorised pin-loaded commercial range, designed for commercial gyms, schools, Defence facilities, mine-site gyms and high-traffic training spaces.

Are KINTA HQ Series machines ISO 20957 supported?

Yes. Selected KINTA HQ Series machines are supported by ISO 20957 documentation for stationary training equipment. The HQ Series is KINTA’s plate-loaded commercial strength range, designed for strength gyms, bodybuilding facilities, sporting clubs, Defence facilities, mine-site gyms and high-performance training spaces.

Are KINTA Bravo Series machines ISO 20957 supported?

Yes. Selected KINTA Bravo Series machines are supported by ISO 20957 documentation. The Bravo Series is KINTA’s value selectorised commercial range and sits one grade below the SAS Series; unlike the SAS Series, Bravo machines do not include pneumatic seat adjustment.

What is the difference between the SAS, HQ and Bravo Series?

The SAS Series is premium selectorised (pin-loaded). The HQ Series is plate-loaded for a heavier strength-training feel. The Bravo Series is value selectorised — commercial pin-loaded machines at a more accessible price, without the SAS Series’ pneumatic seat adjustment.

What is ISO 20957 for gym equipment?

ISO 20957 is the international standard for stationary training equipment. It provides safety requirements and test methods for equipment used in controlled training environments such as commercial gyms, studios, hotels, schools, sporting clubs and professional facilities.

Can KINTA provide documentation for tenders?

Yes. KINTA can provide supporting documentation for relevant commercial, government, Defence, mining, school and tender applications. Contact the KINTA team to request the certificate and test report for the specific products or project being quoted.

Does KINTA install commercial gym equipment?

Yes. KINTA provides full commercial gym fit-out support including equipment selection, 3D gym design, delivery, installation and ongoing service. KINTA is based in Malaga, Western Australia and supports projects across Perth, regional WA and Australia-wide.

Which KINTA range should I choose for a commercial gym?

For general commercial floors, 24/7 gyms and mixed-user facilities, the SAS Series is often best because pin-loaded resistance is fast and simple. For dedicated strength areas, bodybuilding gyms, sporting clubs and performance facilities, the HQ Series suits heavier plate-loaded training. The Bravo Series is the value selectorised option where budget and floor coverage are the priority.

Whether you are planning a commercial gym, mine-site gym, corporate gym, school gym, Defence facility, sporting-club gym or high-performance space, KINTA can help you select documented, commercial-grade equipment and design the floor around it.
