What a "Weight Set" Means at Kinta
Three things make a Kinta set different from buying piece by piece:
- Matched pairs. Every bundle is built around symmetrical loading — paired 20s, 15s, 10s, 5s and so on — so you can progress evenly across both sides of the bar or both hands.
- One price, one delivery. Lower freight, less admin, and pricing set at bundle level rather than the sum of individual SKUs.
- Standard fit. All plate bundles use the 50mm Olympic sleeve, so they’re compatible with any 7ft Olympic barbell, J-hook, weight tree or rack.
The Three Bundle Categories
Barbell Loading Sets
Full plate bundles ready to load onto an Olympic bar. Available across bumper plate sets, cast iron, competition, calibrated steel and quad grip styles, in 100kg, 140kg and 150kg total weights. The 25kg Cast Iron Package and fractional plate sets are also included here for top-ups and micro-progression.
Dumbbell Sets
Fixed-weight dumbbell bundles, with and without storage:
- 1kg–10kg for accessory and rehab work
- 2kg–12.5kg, 10kg–22.5kg, 5kg–30kg and 10kg–35kg sets with matching storage racks
- 3kg–20kg sets with rack, dumbbell tower bundles, and the full Commercial Hex Dumbbell Rack and Set for higher-traffic spaces
When you buy a dumbbell set bundled with storage, the rack is included rather than bought separately — easier on price, freight and setup.
Kettlebell Sets
Progressive ranges by training level:
- Light: 6kg/8kg/10kg
- Mid-range: 8kg/12kg/16kg and 16kg/20kg/24kg
- Heavy: 16kg/24kg/32kg and 16kg/20kg/24kg/32kg
- Complete spectrum: full 6kg–32kg kettlebell-and-rack set
Beginner Gym Bundles
Gym Beginner One and Two combine a bar, plates and accessories so first-time lifters can go from empty room to working gym in one order. These bundles are essentially a bar and weights set in one — bar, plates and accessories combined at a single price.
Why Buy a Set Instead of Individual Pieces
A bundled set is generally a cleaner buy than building from individual SKUs — pricing is set at bundle level, freight is consolidated, and the pair structure is matched out of the box. You also get visual consistency across every plate or dumbbell, which matters for how a gym looks and how it photographs (worth thinking about if you’re a PT or commercial operator). The trade-off: less flexibility on weight increments than buying plates individually.
For most home setups starting from scratch, a 100kg plate bundle plus a dumbbell or kettlebell set will cover the majority of training — and is the path our fitout team recommends most often.
Building a Home or Commercial Gym? The Set Comes First.
The weight set is the foundation everything else gets designed around — your rack, flooring, bar and storage all get specced to suit the plates you choose. A 100kg bumper bundle gives you a very different rack and flooring footprint to a 150kg calibrated steel powerlifting setup.
For home setups, Kinta’s home gym fitout service helps match the right bundle to your space, training goals and the rest of the gear — with delivery and install handled if you want it done properly. For gym owners, PT studios, CrossFit boxes and schools, our commercial fitout team covers 3D floor planning, equipment specification, install and custom branding. We’ve fitted out commercial gyms, schools and home setups across Australia — see our case studies for examples.
Picking the Right Set for Your Training
- New lifters — A 100kg bumper or cast iron bundle, or a beginner gym bundle, will comfortably cover the first 6–12 months.
- Intermediate or CrossFit-style training — A 150kg bumper plate set or quad grip set gives the headroom for squat and deadlift progression without re-buying.
- Powerlifting and advanced strength — The 150kg calibrated steel set or competition plates offer the loadability and precision you’ll need. Pair with a fractional set for micro-progression.
- Commercial gyms and CrossFit boxes — You’ll typically need multiple plate bundles plus full dumbbell and kettlebell ranges. Talk to our fitout team about volume pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a weight set and weight plates?
A weight set is a pre-built bundle of plates (or dumbbells or kettlebells) sold and priced as one package. Individual weight plates are sold per plate or per pair if you want to build a custom loadout. Choose a set when you want a complete starting point; choose individual plates when you’re adding to or customising an existing setup.
Will a Kinta plate set fit a standard barbell?
Yes. All plate sets use the Olympic 50mm sleeve standard and fit any 7ft Olympic bar, rack or weight tree. If you don’t have a bar yet, browse our Olympic Barbells or use the Custom Bar and Weight Package builder to bundle the two.
Do I need a fractional plate set?
Useful if you’re training for a meet or pushing past a plateau — adding 0.5–1kg per week is more sustainable than 2.5kg jumps, especially on overhead press and accessory lifts.
Can I customise a set?
Yes — use the Home Gym Builder or Custom Bar and Weight Package tool, or contact the fitout team for a tailored commercial quote.
Where do you deliver?
Next-day across Perth Metro, standard freight Australia-wide including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and regional areas. Installation available on request.
