What Equipment Do You Need for Hyrox?
A Hyrox race is eight 1km runs alternated with eight fixed workout stations: SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges and wall balls. The format never changes, which is exactly why training with the right equipment matters — you can rehearse every station at race weights before you get there.
Here's how the stations map to equipment for Hyrox training:
Sled push and sled pull. The two stations that punish under-prepared athletes most, because almost no commercial gym floor lets you train them properly. A Prowler-style sled covers the push; add a sled pull rope and you've got both stations from one unit. Pair it with a run of gym turf and you can train sled work at home or in a garage without destroying the sled, the floor or the neighbours' ears.
Wall balls. The final station, done on tired legs. Hyrox competition uses kilogram-denominated balls: 4kg and 6kg in open, 6kg and 9kg in pro divisions — so training with KG wall balls rather than pound-marked ones means no conversion guesswork. Wall ball targets set at race height let you groove the exact throw depth and target you'll see on the day.
Farmers carry. Two kettlebells, carried 200m. Open division runs 16kg (women) and 24kg (men) per hand, moving up to 24kg and 32kg in pro. Cast kettlebells at your division weight, and ideally one size above for overload work, are all this station needs.
Sandbag lunges. A power bag or sandbag at your division weight (10–20kg open, 20–30kg pro) carried across the shoulders for 100m of walking lunges. A durable power bag doubles for over-shoulder throws, carries and general strongman-style conditioning between race preps.
SkiErg and rowing. Both erg stations at Hyrox run on Concept2 machines — the same units we stock in ourConcept 2 range. Training on the exact machine you'll race on is the closest thing to a free advantage in this sport.
Burpee broad jumps need nothing but floor space — though rubber flooring or turf makes 80 metres of them considerably more pleasant.
Building a Hyrox Home Gym
An effective Hyrox home gym setup fits in a garage or backyard: a sled with rope, a strip of turf, one or two pairs of kettlebells at division weight, a KG wall ball with a marked target, and a power bag. Add a Concept2 erg if budget allows, it's the piece most home setups skip and most race results expose.
The advantage of training at home is the volume of work you can get done at your own convenience. Sled work and loaded carries are the classic weaknesses of athletes who prepare in a standard commercial gym, and they're the easiest stations to own with a modest home setup.
If you're outfitting a garage from scratch, our team can help you plan the space, we dohome gym fitouts across WA and across Australia, including layout, flooring and installation.
Building a Hyrox Commercial Gym
For gym owners, Hyrox programming is one of the strongest membership draws in functional fitness. Because every race uses the same eight stations, a commercial Hyrox setup is a known quantity: a dedicated turf lane long enough for sled push and pull work, a Prowler-style sled per lane, wall ball targets mounted at both competition heights, kettlebells across the full division range from 16kg to 32kg so every member trains at their race weight, power bags in open and pro weights, and Concept2 ergs for the SkiErg and rowing stations.
If you're adding a Hyrox zone to an existing facility or planning a hybrid training space from scratch, our team handlescommercial gym fitouts end to end; layout design, turf installation, equipment supply and install.
The Best Equipment for Hyrox Training Is the Gear That Matches Race Conditions
The principle behind this whole range: specificity. Race-weight kettlebells, kilogram wall balls, targets at competition height, sleds on turf that approximates race-floor friction. Every session at race spec is one less surprise on event day.
That's also why durability matters. Hyrox training is high-volume and repetitive, hundreds of wall ball reps, kilometres of sled meters. Our equipment is built to the commercial standard we supply to the Australian Defence Force and mining site gyms, because gear that survives those environments survives a race prep block.

Hyrox Equipment FAQs
What weight kettlebells do I need for Hyrox?
Open division farmers carry is 2x16kg for women and 2x24kg for men; pro division is 2x24kg and 2x32kg. Train at your division weight, and consider one bell size heavier for overload sessions.
What wall ball weight is used in Hyrox?
4kg (women) and 6kg (men) in open division; 6kg and 9kg in pro. Hyrox uses kilogram-denominated balls, so KG wall balls are the correct training choice for Australian athletes.
Can I train for Hyrox at home?
Yes, a sled, turf strip, kettlebells, a wall ball and a power bag cover five of the eight stations, and running costs nothing. The erg stations are the main gap; a Concept2 rower or SkiErg completes the setup.
Do you deliver Hyrox equipment outside Perth?
Yes. Next-day delivery across Perth metro, and shipping Australia-wide on the full range.
